Aera In-Store Payments supports payment terminals designed for use in physical retail environments and on the move.

Payment terminals are the primary customer-facing devices used to complete in-store transactions and can be deployed using different integration models depending on store setup and operational needs.

Terminal integration models

Aera In-Store Payments supports the following terminal integration models:

Integrated terminals
The terminal is connected to and controlled by a Point-of-Sale (POS / ECR) system. The POS initiates the transaction and receives the payment result from the terminal.
Portable (stand-alone) terminals
The terminal operates independently of a POS and handles the full payment flow locally. These terminals are suitable for mobile use within a store environment or where POS integration is not required.

The selected integration model affects transaction flow, communication patterns, and operational responsibilities.

Aera supports the following terminal types for in-store deployments.

Portable terminal – Ingenico DX4000

The Ingenico AXIUM DX4000 is a portable Android-based payment terminal that can be used in multiple deployment scenarios.

It can be configured as:

A cloud-integrated terminal, connected to backend services for optimal performance and centralized management in store environments
A stand-alone terminal, operating independently without POS integration

The DX4000 is well suited for environments requiring mobility, flexibility, and high availability.

Countertop terminal – Ingenico RX5000

The Ingenico AXIUM RX5000 is a fixed countertop payment terminal designed for POS-integrated use cases.

This terminal is intended to operate as part of an integrated checkout setup.

Key characteristics:

Fixed countertop (PIN pad & PIN shield) terminal
Android-based platform
Designed for high-volume retail environments
Intended for integrated POS solutions only

Communication and connectivity

Supported terminals provide multiple communication options to support reliable operation in retail store environments.

Depending on terminal type and configuration, this may include:

Wired connectivity
- IP over USB
- USB & Ethernet
- Ethernet
Wireless connectivity
- Wi-Fi (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz)
- Bluetooth
- Cellular connectivity (where supported by hardware and region)
