Network requirements

The hosts and ports that terminals, your ECR and the AIC computer must be able to reach, in the test, staging and production environments.

Traffic from the terminal

Configure your firewalls to allow this traffic from the terminal. The terminal always opens the connection. It never acts as a server.

Allow hostnames, not IP addresses

The IP addresses behind these hostnames change without notice.

Which environment

Test terminals with local or cloud integration uses staging, and live terminals use production. See Test environments.

Traffic from your ECR

Local integration. AIC listens on two TCP ports:

PortWho connects
TCP 8001Terminals
TCP 8002ECRs
  • Allow incoming traffic on both ports on the AIC computer, but only from your own terminals and ECRs.
  • If AIC runs on a store server, the ECR must reach the server on TCP 8002, and the terminals on TCP 8001.
  • If AIC runs on the ECR computer, the ECR connects to AIC on the same computer (localhost), port 8002. With IP over USB, the terminal connects to AIC on the ECR, port 8001.

Cloud integration. Your ECR backend must reach https://psp-staging.aerahost.com (staging) or https://psp.aerahost.com (production). See Cloud integration, which also lists the IP addresses that callbacks come from.

DNS

Terminals need DNS servers. If you use DHCP, make sure the DHCP server also hands out DNS servers. If terminals use static IPs, set the DNS servers manually on each terminal.
